Hello Shady Pets Backers,
Happy New Year and Happy New Decade! May you have a blessed and "Shady" 2020! We've got a lot of great news to share with you in this update. First and foremost, we're looking forward to shipping the Shady Pets game to you in just a few short weeks. Yah!
1. Production Finishes Next Week. We are using 2 manufacturers; 1 for the game itself and 1 for the Throw Octopus. Both manufacturers have confirmed that production will be completed by next week; January 6-10, 2020 and they will be shipping the units to Hong Kong which is where our Easy Ship warehouse/logistics center is located. All units are being shipped direct to you from this location using HK Air e-Express.
2. Shipping Starts Week of January 13-17. Our initial forecast back in October was January 15, so we're happy to say we're still right on track!
- Transit Time (est. 7-14 days), so final delivery should be between January 21-30.
3. International Taxes & Duties: As stated in our Kickstarter campaign, "International Taxes & Duties: If you live outside the USA, you may have to pay tax and duty when the shipment arrives, if applicable. We will be using Easy Ship." Here's the approximate tax and duties for our most popular pledge levels (if you ordered add-ons, estimates will be slightly higher).
- Canada: 1 Box $2.24, Combo $3.96 (CAD)
- Australia: 1 Box $2.88, Combo $5.95 (AUD)
- U.K.: 1 Box £4.88, Combo £9.56 (GBP)

Production Started! Eveything's On Track ...

Hello Shady Pets Backers,
Here's just a quick update on the Shady Pets project.
1. Our pledge manager period is almost complete. We've received the shipping information and add-on orders from over 95% of our backers. Thank you! We will be charging your credit cards in the next few days to complete your payment of the shipping and add-ons. If you still haven't completed this step, no worry. We'll keep it open for a few more weeks and will do our best to get your order included in the first shipment batch.
We're going to be shipping 2,630 items to 19 countries! So far our backers added 134 Throw Octopuses to their orders using the pledge manager!
2. Last week, we started production on all the game units (and Throw Octopuses). This will take about 4 weeks to complete so we're still right on track to have the game delivered to you in early January, 2020 (as promised!).
3. Hi, I'm Matte! With the addition of the late pledges, we officially hit our $35K stretch goal and have upgraded all the boxes to the cool, sleek matte finish! Yah!

Our Pledge Manager Opens Today

Hello Shady Pets Backers,
We're all set! Within the next 24 hours, you will receive an email from our pledge manager, Backerkit. When you click on the email link you'll arrive at an intro page (after log-in) that will look like this:
If you're content with your pledge, please click on the green "Get Started" button.
If you would like to change your pledge (ex. switch from the 'Original' to 'NSFW', or want only 'Original' in your Combo, then please click on the "switch your pledge level" link located under the Get Started button. Once you're content with your pledge, please proceed to the add-on screen:
Here you have the option to add more copies of the game, or add as many additional Throw Octopuses as you desire. These add-ons will be in addition to your pledge level order. There's an additional $5 per add-on game box for S&H. There's an additional $1 per add-on Throw Octopus for S&H.
Once this is complete, we'll collect your shipping address, then you'll be all set!!

Pledge Manager to Open This Week

Hello Shady Pets Backers,
We are very close to opening our pledge manager so we can receive your shipping information and you can make any changes to your pledge or add or switch items. We are targeting Nov 14-17. Once we collect this information, we'll go into production mode so we can make sure we deliver Shady Pets to your door by mid January, 2020.
An invitation from Backerkit will be sent directly to the email address linked to your Kickstarter account. Be sure to check your spam folder in case it was captured there!
Game Update
Since our campaign ended, we've been working hard to finalize our Pet Cards and are extremely proud at the quality of these cards. You're going to be blown away! "Adorable, Funny, Weird, Mind blowing" are just some some of the comments from people who have seen the cards. We are also excited to announce that some of these cards will feature our Shady Pets Photo Contest winners. View our Photo Contest - Final Results. We had over 115 entries and received nearly 1,800 votes! Congratulations to all the winners!
Late Pledge Update

I think it's safe to say, in fact we're 99.999% confident, that when we add our late pledges and add-on orders we will easily hit our $35K stretch goal. We've already made plans to upgrade everyone to the cool, sleek "matte" boxes!

Kickstarter Campaign Completed ... What's Next?

Hello Shady Pets Backers,
The Shady Pets Kickstarter campaign officially ended today at 7:05 am PST (October 31, 2019) as an amazing success! Thank you all for your incredible support. It’s a dream come true for us and we’re excited to bring Shady Pets to reality. We achieved over 1,000 backers and nearly $35K in pledges! We will make late pledges available so we can still hit our $35K stretch goal. Here's how we finished:
What's Next?
It usually takes Kickstarter about 7-12 days to process your pledge and complete your pledge payment. Once that step is completed, we will open our pledge manager for a two week window, estimated to be Nov 11-26, 2019
What is a Pledge Manager?
A pledge manager allows our Kickstarter backers to alter their pledges, choose additional items, personalize what they bought and type in and confirm their shipping address. This is done through an online survey process. Since we mentioned in our Kickstarter campaign that shipping fees would be added in the post campaign pledge manager, you will need to make payment for your shipping in order to receive the game.
The pledge manager will allow you to add more units, swap from the Original to the NSFW, add one or multiple Throw Octopuses, and so on.
We will be using Backerkit as our pledge manager for this campaign. Backerkit will be open from approximately November 11-26, 2019. On November 27th, we will begin the last stage of pre-production so please complete your surveys quickly.

Know anyone who missed the Kickstarter campaign?
They can still order Shady Pets via a “Late Pledge” yet this will close on November 26, 2019.
